Chirashi, also called chirashizushi, is a bowl of rice, vegetables, fish, and other ingredients. It is traditionally used with multiple types of fish, normally the same types of fish used nigiri. Rice, Japanese radish, and sometimes things like lemons or limes to add flavor are also in the bowl with the fish. People slowly started to add vegetables to make it more of a balanced meal and to add more diverse textures to the meal.

Chirashi bowls and poke bowls are very similar but are definite not the same thing. Chirashi bowls originate from Japan and are just raw fish plain unless the person eating it adds lemon, lime, or soy sauce. Poke bowls originate from Hawaii and is rice, vegetables, and raw fish marrinated in sauces. If you call at chirashi bowl, a poke bowl. People will be very confused and could get defensive because you are mixing their cultures.
