Sashimi was traditionally eaten with nothing. After sashimi was not rotten fish with nasty rice, more things were added to it. Today we eat sashimi with daikon (Japanese Radish) which is the whitish clear noodle looking things you eat with your fish. You will also get soy sauce and wasabi with you sashimi. You get soy sauce and wasabi with all sushi though.

Sashimi is actually the first type of sushi. Sashimi is just a thin slice of raw fish eaten. Almost all fish can be eaten with sashimi. The most common types of fish are of course salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and amberjack. Some other fish used is ahi tuna which is my personal favorite, halibut, squid, and octopus.
